Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent for NBC News two year later. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell has appeared as the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. She was on the panel in the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Her reporting included a number of important stories like the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms and also the arms control. She traveled widely along with the president Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
